This poem shows strong attitudes and feelings of the city as a whole, and
yet you are able to feel the city at each persons level. Sandberg uses
imagery to show how the city is savage but most of all it is alive and
growing and thriving.

The author, Carl Sandburg's message was about the different places a person
is meant for in just a small simple place. This city of Chicago was
immensly used for work and job opportunities for all lower and upper class.
In this poem, there is also violence amongst the people. Chicago may have
been an opportunities for jobs, however it was a breeding nest for crimes
and illeagal actions.
