Poet: Stanley Kunitz Poem: King of the River Poem of the Day: Dec 27 2009 Comment 1 of 1, added on December 27th, 2009 at 12:43 PM. Existential lightening! I am almost speechless! This poem, wherein the human experience is so seamlessly woven into the life and image of a helpless fish in the water, struggling toward its inexorable demise. But, oh, the triumph and beauty bounded up in that existential helplessness, "the way of all flesh" strikes me dumb with existential lightening!
