Roger says: March 1, 2011 at 3:27 pmI am in agreement with you that the
dealers of Islamic Republic have weakened themselves through exclusionary
politics and policies. It has been only under Mr. Ahmadinejad that his
government departed from the common practice of dividing Iranians into
With-US and Not-With-Us.I recall, in 1980s, the very many Iranians in the
positions of dealership within Islamic Republic actively encouraged people
to emigrate and they were quite agressively arrogant and explicit about it:
If you do not like it here, leave. was a common phrase, often heard. And
you had to leave, really, since they tolerated no disagreements and not
even mild criticism from the Not-With-Us people who were trying to help.
As far as I could tell, their arrogance was rooted in the historical
experience of a powerless population in an absolutist polity which was
suddenly given power. And then you had the old oil-determinism that only
encouraged autocracy. Crucially, they had the masses of the pious Muslims
with them as well. Some of it, also has to do with the nature of Islam; it
is a simple religion for common people [Judasim for All]. What has
evolved, over the last millenia, has been a religiosity that denigrates and
destroys all who are of superior intellect and finer spirituality. Thus,
Sunnis ran to the flag of Ignorance is Bliss of al Ghazzali. And later,
both the Shia and the Sunni Doctors of Religion, attempted to supress the
refined and delicate spirituality of Sufi Muslims.Ironically, it is only in
Shia Islam that both delicacy of feeling and sentiment (owning to the
Commemoration of the Martyrdom of Imam Hussein) as well as Philosophy have
survived. Yet, the Islamic Disater in Iran is only a mild case of
influenza compared to the potentially much more destructive of extremism
that would obtain if there is an Islamic Revolution in a Sunni polity. If
the dealers of the Catholic Church had heeded the davise of Dante 200 years
earlier, there would not have been any Reformation. But no, they had too
much power and too little sense.

picture puzzle piece

i felt the poem is beautiful... as it simply takes you to your childhood
memories with fairy tale books like the snowwhite, old woman who lived in a
shoe, an angel's love etc..... it's not meant to be too serious...:))
