Richard Wilbur - Having Misidentified A Wildflower

A thrush, because I'd been wrong,
Burst rightly into song
In a world not vague, not lonely,
Not governed by me only.

Having Misidentified A Wildflower - Comments and Information

Poet: Richard Wilbur
Poem: Having Misidentified A Wildflower

I believe this means that if a kind of flower which is unknown doesn’t it is something worthless. It is a unique and only flower, which may seem like nothing at first but become something great and surprise you. This is the same with a foreign person; even though she is different she is not a worthless person but a unique one.

I stumbled accross this on a beautiful May day.
It sums up with a smile the joys of a country walk with the children.
