It’s so nice
to wake up in the morning
all alone
and not have to tell somebody
you love them

    While it’s easy to read this poem as one where Richard lost someone and didn’t have to say he loved her anymore, but I read it as a relationship where he no longer had to say it because she knew. She knew so much that the words meant nothing next to how clear his love for her was.

    This is on of my favorite Brautigan poems, it’s funny, sad, lonely… I like it.
