This is just one of many nostalgic "aging" poems,generally written by men.
It is recited, in part, by one of the captured soldiers, who is awaiting
torture in the 1943 film, The Purple Heart, starring Dana Andrews. The
reason for the recitation was that Dana's character, the captain of the
captured air crew, had just reached the ancient age of 30!
