This poem is as inspiring now as it was when Oliver Whendell wrote it. It
saved the Uss constitution from being destroyd and showed Americans the
pride the boat posses. It should help us remeber the pride which soldires
fought with to defend what has come to be the great nation of th US

Well written and well said. After spending 6yrs. in the U.S.N. AND 3 of
them in the S.E.A.L.S.I also visited IRONSIDES in one of the New England
States and now I know that in thoses days the men were made of iron and the
ships were made of wood...such a difference today.

First I’m going to write a difference about the poems. The difference is
that that is about a boat and people died and war because it says blood on
the boat. There are thunders like cannons. O captain! My captain is about
the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865.
