Maya Angelou - Woman Work

I've got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I've got shirts to press
The tots to dress
The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
And the cotton to pick.

Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again.

Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
'Til I can rest again.

Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.

Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You're all that I can call my own.

This poem is amazing because of the fact she has so much power and determindation, it brillant to see a women like Maya Angelou writing a poem like this! It's also singficant that in the first stanza its all breathe taking because its like a list but after the first stanza she seems to be more relaxed and the thng what keeps her moving is nature itself because she doesnt own anything in this poem and i find this truely amazing that she has and also will be the greatest poets! By the way, im only 15 so if i've undersood anything wrong please let me know. But i love Maya's poem and im sure many more people agree!

Love you guys and thanks for reading :)

Peace Out!

Ashley, I don't agree with you solely because you cannot correctly type or form sentences. "do any one agree with me" Does anyone agree?

norine, you are a braindead. What are there besides those of "both men and women." Please stop trolling message boards with your BiPolar story fishing for sympathy. Norine, please stop this ignorance i beg you.
