Maya Angelou - When You Come

When you come to me, unbidden,
Beckoning me
To long-ago rooms,
Where memories lie.

Offering me, as to a child, an attic,
Gatherings of days too few.
Baubles of stolen kisses.
Trinkets of borrowed loves.
Trunks of secret words,

I CRY.

All of your poems really inspire me in some kind of way but When You Come is one of my top favorites besides Phenomenal Woman.

I love this poem. I think the imagery of an attic is wonderful because to children an attic can be scary but wildly exciting. That is also a description of how love can sometimes be, especially love that is unattainable or forbidden.

Wonderful is the only word for this poem. Thanks....
