Very few poems move me and this poem out of her many poems move me the
most. Using a rock for the symbol of strength is wonderful imagination that
many people in this world unfortunately doesn't have enough of. This poem
is amazing in many ways that connot be expressed in such words.

The rock signifies strength. The strength for us as people everywhere is
the world to stand together as one. Not to hide behind shame,humility or
cowardness, but to be able to stand strong in our own right for what we
believe in and what we know is right. We as a people can unify and become
one and be solid as a rock.

This poem expresses how I feel about our nation ignoring the harm of our
earth for the simple grace of capitalizism.

When I first looked upon this poem and seen the "rock" immediately "Jesus
Christ" entered my mind because He indeed is the "Rock" of salvation.

The poem is amazing. Maya Angelou is brilliant as always. In line 7, "of
their" is repeated.
