the central theme of this poem is horrible. i had read and read over and over again and the meaning never seemed to hit me. it, to me is just a buncha of scribble put together under the title of a 'poem' its so vague and bland and is so oblivious.

In many ways this kind of poetry resembles to romantic period.we can see all elements based on view of maya angelou in this poem.
It's hard to say, this view point backs to realistic world.The narrater of this poem is trying to fix the problems.
In another view she is trying to attack the world, which
destroys privacy. when she says "touching words" it can be
divided into two parts
1. humanity : basicly many problems come to exist .we do
not let people be free which means there are many
limitations in what you say and all thinking cabs must be formed based on social attitudes, here's where change comes to everything.
2. nature : so most of people engage in daily typical life. they forget the reality of life which is the most important element after all. a kind of inspiration exist in beauty of nature when you back to it you can understand the life.
another point is loss of love.
love would have a meaning if seperation happens.
sometimes saying goodbye is the best way to keep on love .
Maya trys to say that love is on our minds, not in phisycal life and you can make love eternal by our minds.
refering to Maya thoughts.
people need to be together ."together we stand ,divided we fall" love may be just an excuse to carry on, we can feel, we can stay by our hearts .
lost in this world
maya talks about a person who lost the soul . it means that
human forget spirit and try to make relation again .
sometimes we are just free from everything and we forget that the most important factor of our life, is us.
we can say that she trys to make relation with herself and
find the missing part in her life.

i believe the poem is about wanting a lover all to yourself. Its about wanting to be the ONE to bask in their presence. Its saying be true to me and only me, and that i want a deeper connection with you, thats beyond words. Take my hand, lets walk the journey just you and i. Me and u against the world.
