Maya Angelou - Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Yes, I totally agree

Yes, I totally agree! And I did get that point also from the prtoey, just not with the promise. I also think finding those moments of contentment are sometimes quite hard, you almost have to take a serious loaf, feet up and all to actually find those moments. I no sooner will feel completely happy with who I am, what I have, and where I am at, when something happens to change that. Sometimes it changes for the better but most times it doesn’t and steals those moments from me. Ah-ha another theme to this prtoey…the more we practice finding those moments of contentment the easier and more often we will find we have them :) Hope you had a great weekend and I always read your posts!

Nicole Trail This po

Nicole Trail This post is so inspiring to me! My ex left me and our two boys (age 12 and 16) asmolt a year ago no warning, no real explanation. I too was a mommy martyr and had given up my identity to do it all at home (+ work full time bringing in over 50% of our family income). I am actually finding life easier in some ways with just two children to care for now, but I am struggling to find my identity as a single woman and to keep a positive attitude. Thank you for giving me a little extra jolt of inspiration to keep moving forward!!
