Ellis Parker Butler - Mary Had A Little Frog

Mary had a little frog
  And it was water-soaked,
But Mary did not keep it long
  Because, of course, it croaked!

i really like this poem, stumbled across it whilst looking for something else. it reminds me of a rhyme- another variation on the 'mary had a little lamb..' nursery ryhme that my dad used to sing when we were small which went' Mary had a little lamb,
it's fleece was black as soot,
and everywhere that Mary went
it's sooty foot it put!" - don't know where it originated!
