Analysis and comments on Emily Sparks by Edgar Lee Masters

Comment 1 of 1, added on January 27th, 2009 at 8:53 PM.

This poem is one of two. This exact poem is about a teacher that believed
in a student. The boy moved to France and became a "partier". She did not
know of this but because she believed in this student so much that she
wrote a letter to him. In this letter she told him about the love of Christ
and that she hopes he is living his life fully. The story ends happily,
althouth both are dead, the student did recognized that he was wasting his
life and "started over". I hope this comment is helpful.
