Biography of David Ray

David Ray

David Ray (? - Present)

David Ray is the author or editor of twenty-three books including X-Ray (Cornell) and Gathering the Firewood (Weslyan). He was one of the founders of American Writers Against the Vietnam War in 1966 and co-edited, with Robert Bly, A Poetry Reading Against the Vietnam War, a collection of relevant readings from the classics as well as contemporary sources. He has won many prizes, including the William Carlos Williams Award (the only poet to have done so twice), and the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Award. His work has appeared in Harper’s, The Paris Review, The New Yorker, The Iowa Review, and numerous other publications. He now lives in Tucson with his wife.
