Daniel Nester's Macaronic Blues, to me, seems like it is parodying the uniquely American trait of sheep-like conformity. After a while here in the US, whether you are originally from Australia or Ajerbhizan, we all sound alike ("quack, quack to you..." oh, thank you, quack, quack to you too!")and worse, we end up thinking alike. Whatever happened to "rugged individualism, quack, quack, tell me! Another Donald Duck, who doesn't give a duck about the rest of the world....
