Bill Knott - Nuremberg, U.S.A.

In this time and place, where "Bread and Circuses" has
become "Bread and Atrocities," to say 'I love you' is
like saying the latest propaganda phrase...'defoliation'...
'low yield blast'.
If bombing children is preserving peace, then
my fucking you is a war-crime.

This poem hit me very hard and became my antem during my protests of the vietman war. I carried this book with me always, and would continue to bye it and give away. i still have my original copy, tatered and dog eared, torn and well read, i believe i have read the words away as they imbeded themselfs in my grey matter.
i miss you bill, but you are still on the insides of my eyelids not quite blacked out yet.

All depends which government is talking to you. We all twist the truth to suit ourselves.

When Asiatics massacre, it is atrocity; when Europeans, it is military exigency. Appreciate the distinction and ponder over the world's virtues.
