The expression of the iguanas of grey breakdowns,
the expression of the pythons rolled up as the fate,
even that of this yellow varanus to exist
whose eye winks as a lost cloud,

The expression of these immense tortoises
who move the head as an ecstatic coffin,
and this joke of the nature, this tortoise with head of snake
which wonders of the air,

The expression of this alligator which everything annoys,
exposed for the pleasure of the people and the money,
the life looks like a zoo of flat suburb
when we see the nature so deprived of love.

Yann, Reptiles of all creatures deserve our attention — they don’t bring out the best in us and we should wonder why. The exhibit exhibits something about the keeper and the kept. Thanks for the poem. Jerry

  2. Deb Says:

This poem creeped me out and entranced me at the same time.
I won’t be able to look at the ecstatic head of a turtle ever again…

  3. Ida Werrett Says:

I think all creatures are here for a purpose. to keep nature in balance.
