“THE STRENGTH OF A WOMAN” by Trade Martin

(A DEDICATION)

(Written by a sincere and humble man for Sarah Palin and all the wonderful women in the world)

This whole world is mine…..,
A confirmed miracle unseen……,
Many men would be honored…..,
If I revealed my secret dream……,
But I’ll just keep holding back……,
As I politely play the queen……,
Who’s nearly super human……,
For nothing ever compares…….,
To The Strength Of A Woman……!!!

I can bear the pain……,
Heartbreak and tears……,
Even after being suppressed…..,
Poked fun at, scorned…..,
And put down…, big time…..,
For a countless number of years…….,
I’m confident and vibrant……,
Femininely assertive, sublime…….,
Distinctive and one of a kind……,
So when it comes to love…..,
Marriage, children and then some……,
Nothing can overcome…….,
The Strength Of A Woman……!!!

The opposite sex…..,
Looks me over and asks…..,
Is she better than me……???
The fact is, I’m surely not……,
But I’m just as damn good……,
And you’ll see so vividly……,
That they absolutely must……,
Deeply respect that of me……,
And every other lovely lady…….,
Because I realize I’ve been……,
Blessed with a unique omen…..,
That nothing comes close…..,
To The Strength Of A Woman……!!!

And my world will progress……,
Building day after day……,
Getting better and prospering…..,
In every conceivable way…..,
Let everyone laugh…..,
But I’ll never care……,
Because unlike the masses……,
I’m proud and keenly aware……,
That I have the confidence……,
And the power to cope and fight……,
With any problem……,
That might affect my life……,
Or my loving family……,
For nothing can share……,
Touch, be on the same level……,
Brush by, rise up to……,
Or even comes near……,
The Strength Of A Woman……!!!

(GOD BLESS THE “STRENGTH OF A WOMAN”)

What women wouldn’t like this, Trade?

Hi, Trade. I am a litle uncertain about the thrust of this portion of the poem. Does it mean that the “masses” do not share this sense of pride, and thus that most people, men and women, are not confident that they can face and overcome any obstacle they may encounter?

That is my only point of “contention” but let me say, like Ida, that women are justly exalted in this poem, and we men don’t have as much power that we’d like to think. From the beginning, to Naoleon, and thence to Bill Clinton and beyond, men have been duly humbled! :)

    Best wishes,

  3. Trade Martin Says:

Hey Art…., thanks for your sharp comment and your interesting thoughts….!!! I was actually referring to a few ‘massive’ religions and countries that still completely almost would like to ‘extinguish’ the females…., except of course to have children and serve their men like slaves. I don’t feel these totally suppressed women have any idea what the outside world is like….!!! It’s a shame, because it seems that they will never have any pride or power. Best regards, Trade.

Ida, thanks so much…., I guess it’s weird hearing a guy writing something like this…., but I’ve been married twice to fine ladies
and both were fairly long 12 to 16 year relationships. From my observations, I sincerely mean what I said in this piece, and I’m very happy you enjoyed it. Best regards, Trade.

God bless all women, their strenght is tremendous and shall fold every man.

  5. oxygon Says:

Governor Palin is a politician, but we must not forget that she is a mother, and some of the harsh things that have been said are more hurtful than useful. I can be a very brash commentator, but when I sit back and reflect, I tend to find common ground, and can appreciate the accomplishments of women who have weathered the storm of being women in a “man’s” world, but in the end the women rule! :)

  6. Roy Conant Says:

Well, I have to say (being less the gentleman than Art and not nearly so erudite as you) I know several wonderful women and few of them have anything in common with Sarah Palin, other than gender, and most of them find it an embarrassment that Sarah Palin, being a member of a massive hate-spewing religion (your usual thoughtless, run-of-the-mill, ditto-head (how embarrassing is it to denigrate oneself with that term, anyhow?)) of reactionary, right-wing, neo-christian fascists (I refer you to my definition of fascism which you will readily agree perfectly describes the audience for your verse- http://www.americanpoems.com/members/roy-conant/fasceismbook/) — tragi-comic apologists for the destruction they impose on the garden they are charged to nurture with loving, caring, forgiving tenderness rather than the dark, dreary, dismal hatred they seed and root in the sacred earth, mindlessly weeding any and all who might take issue with their contrived conceits.

Honestly, Trade, this is dreck. It is trite. It is stale. And, it is shallow. Clearly you have talent with words and have deployed it somewhat skillfully here, but to what menial populist end? Reading this makes me feel like I’m listening to a National Socialist speech in Germany and expected it to end with “Sig Heil” and “Die Fuhrerette!” There is nothing which draws one to a deeper meaning, an introspection of learning, a cornucopia of insight. It is something like dime-store foam lava — Crusty on the outside with no hardness to the center. One doesn’t want to come back for seconds, much less thirds. Again, I refer you to one of mine (not because I consider it particularly good, but because it expresses this thought much more succinctly): http://www.americanpoems.com/members/roy-conant/walk-the-talk/#comment-17118

But, I do think you have been instructive in one regard. Just as I manufacture and sell many stupid baubles to thoughtless right-wing, fundamentalist reactionaries (They are financing the left with their autonomic, robotic consumption of slogans and bumper stickers — how funny is that, anyway? I couldn’t make a living selling to the left because the left is somewhat more thoughtful and less readily deluded by shysteric hucksters), it is now apparent that all I have to do to have any of my dreck receive countless hits is dedicate it to a woman who has purchased several empty baubles from me!! I LOVE IT!! Tell me, what dreck of mine do you think I should dedicate to Ms. Palin so I can reach the lofty heights your poem so quickly attained?

You might think this is harsh, I don’t mind. A good bit of my stuff is dreck and I take a shot or two for it. When you put it out there, you must expect more than, and be suspicious of only, praise. Good luck.

    Roy

  7. Roy Conant Says:

Sarah Palin is a socialist — stealing from the rich to give to the poor — Witness the taxes on Alaska Oil that go as payments to AK citizens. Yessirree!! Sarah Palin is my kinda woman — A socialist!!

  8. Roy Conant Says:

Here is another tribute to Sarah Palin — Enjoy!! http://www.americanpoems.com/members/roy-conant/god-bless-sarah-palin/#comments

  9. oxygon Says:

The table turns Roy. I find it intriguing that those who most often brand others as socialists are themselves socialists! You are a keen observer, and see what others often miss. I must admit I don’t do much in the way of observing Sarah Palin.

  10. Subrata Ray Says:

The hubris of woman , does not seem to me an omen .Mr.Trade ,I think , has no reason to flatter the women .The women by their innate qualities are super-men .They give birth to children ,rear and care them , give men shelter , keep up the peace of home .
But the men are the source of the women’s stay . I would not contradict by exhibiting fiery -struggle of the men in life’s battle . However the poet’s infatuation to the women is his own .
Sir , you really deserve praise .For I am always with my mother’s side .

  11. Arian Rey Tejano Says:
