Reign in the excessive salaries
And bonuses, and a brain-drain
Will ensue via a mass exodus of talent . . .

What? You’re trying to be funny, right?
The brains were already drained—
Of ethics, integrity, and common sense!
And where is all of this “talent” going?
To Walmart? —it’s a bunch of crap!

Can you believe it? —the crocodile tears,
hand wringing, and dire prophecy
Over the loss of all that overpaid talent
that got us into this mess in the first place!

Do they really think we’re that stupid!

I just had to weigh in on this, despite my reluctance to engage in negative political discussion. When I listened to this bull, I had to fight the gag reflex!

Exactly! The one thing that the folks who like to lecture us on capitalism seem to forget is that for capitalism to work there has to be “ethics, integrity, and common sense” and without those things they don’t really have capitalism — they have a world full of corruption and foolhardiness. Thanks for the poem. I feel like you do about negative political discussions — especially when it dresses up in a poem. But a poet responds to the world with a poem — so an occasional political poem should be expected — and when they come from true poets we should listen. Jerry

hello Art, enjoyed sharing your poem and comments from you and jerry. I am afraid of politics.

  4. oxygon Says:

Have no fear, yann, truth and justice will prevail in the end. Thanks for the comment.

  5. oxygon Says:

I have no quarrel with executives and staff who work hard, and earn reasonable compensation; it’s this exclusive club of grubbers who buy political favor, and largely control the government at the expense of this country’s long term national interests.

  6. laredneckpoet Says:

I have to agree whole heartedly. I am still wondering why the bigwigs who got into this mess seemed to think they deserved a bonus? If I don’t do a good job at work I’d get fired not a huge bonus LOL Thanks for the timely read

  7. Anita Irene May Says:

Yeah, Oxygon, You have got it RIGHT! Thank you for voices it in verse.

  8. Roy Conant Says:

Hey Art — This is great. It aint a dance. You just jumped right up in their face. How about you and me offer to do the job they was s’posed to do for half the price. Seems about right, right — we get about half what they save by hiring us… lol ;-) Man, this is just soooo good! Roy

  9. Ida Werrett Says:

Yes , Art, they DO think we’re that stupid and in some cases I’ve noticed that they are right.
