The American electorate—do we really have a clear choice? Republican or Democrat? —back and forth between two ambiguous alternatives; where do we go from here? What about the “independents”? Are they more than anything but potential democrats and republicans waiting in the wings, waiting to blow with the next ideological wind that comes along to suit the fancy of moment?
I’m an independent, Art and all I can tell you from my point of view is I’m sick to death of both parties. They steal us blind and then send a letter asking for donations. Not likely. The campaign never ends, hence , no time for running the country. I think we need some major changes to the political system before we go under for the third time.

Yes, it’s a sad state of affairs, Ida. I am now an independent, and I still wonder what it means in terms of a real choice. The two major parties dominate, and neither can claim any kind of victory on yesterday. It was just another variation on the same old tune. We do, indeed, need an American revival in the democratic process, and it can’t begin if the people don’t mandate real leadership, and it has to begin with a well informed electorate that isn’t inclined to succumb to “incumbency.” —big bucks, and the continuity of the same old bunch in office, and the same old crap served over and over again. Oh, well . . .
