A child walked to the end of the rainbow
He looked up and said “How was I to know
My purpose, my destination, I took a guess
Is this what will become of me, or even less?”

He grew up and never cared about affection
Used everyone who came along, he thought it was perfection
One day the sky turned black and rain set in
Local thunderstorms continued till he faced his sin

He begged for forgiveness, prepared to offer his soul
Asked what he could do to make himself whole
He confessed to all he had done wrong
And was prepared to accept what was coming to him all along

His sentence, great as our Father above
Was to search for his inner void and find love
He went back to the end of the rainbow, back to where it all began
And said “I’ll face myself and be a better man”
