A lonely prisoner
sits with pen in hand
scribbling madly
words that come to mind
the insane brain working feverishly
thoughts screaming in his head
must put them on paper
before they are dead
writing words of love
for a lover once had
shivering at the rememberance
of closeness once felt
now lost, and clinging only to memory
days of sunshine and laughter
now darkness and gloom
surronds him in his lonely tomb
love once pledged eternal
keeps him locked in his room
the jailer with cold cruel words
placed the lock upon the door
nevermore to be free
ever loving and ever dying
sometimes crying and sighing
he writes word to ease the pain
but never hearing the words that could set him free!
