Rating: - Feminine Cups
I started using "INSTEADS" (another brand of feminine cups sold at drug stores) years ago. You get about 12 of them for around $[...]. I love them. Some people may find it "yucky" but aren't periods yucky ... I save big time on them. I use one per period but I have used them for several periods before. I am a heavy bleeder and the way it works for me ... my "jut in case I leak" pad hardly ever has anything on it. When I sit down to urinate ... the cup empties itself for me. I try to take it out at least once a day to clean it but you don't have to .... it just makes me feel better. I am anxious to try this cup ... I did not realize there was another brand. If you are leary of paying this much for a feminine cup try the brand I use since it's cheaper to make sure you will like it. They make my periods a little easier to bear. Good Luck.
Rating: - Amazing!
This is the best thing since sliced bread. Some people talk about having a hard time learning how to position this product, and I suppose that could be true, but luckily I had no such problem. This worked perfectly the first time I tried it. You can wear it for up to twelve hours; that means only having to empty it once in the morning and once at night. It almost feels like you don't even have your period. This is much better than tampons, with no reported incidences of TSS and removing it is nothing compared to removing a dry tampon. I recommend the DivaCup to every woman I know. It's even environmentally friendly and less costly than using pads and tampons. It doesn't get much better than that.
Rating: - So far so good!
I loved the idea of the Diva Cup when I saw it...no more having to buy expensive feminine products! Plus, it's nice not to be contributing to yucky landfills.
I think pads are kinda gross, and my cycles are light...so tampons are dry and uncomfortable for me. So I decided to give this product a try.
I'm 25, and yesterday was my first day using the Diva Cup, so I'll write based on my experience thus far.
From what I've found, the shower is a great place to test this product. Your hands are clean, the cup is warm (and therefore soft and pliable) and you don't have to worry about cleaning up any messes.
It hurt a little the first time I inserted the cup, but it really helped me to remember that The Lord fashioned us to have a baby's head fit through there. So I just kept muttering "baby's head, baby's head" to myself as I cringingly proceeded with the task.
Once the cup was in place I worried that I didn't have it "sealed," and wondered if it was riding up. Then I got nervous because the whole stem disappeared inside me a few centimeters. If this happens to you, DON'T WORRY. Just like with a baby's head (though, admittedly, I wouldn't actually know) you can essentially "birth" the cup out to a point where you can grab the stem and pull it the rest of the way out.
The website (www.divacup.com) is pretty helpful for FAQs, too.
Ladies, so far I have to say this contraption is pretty cool. Even though I'm a little sore from getting the hang of the insertion and removal, the pain is worth the gain.
Also, I probably wouldn't recommend this product for virgins...I'd imagine it would be way too painful. I'm a born-again-Christian but (sadly) have a "pre-conversion" sexual history. I suppose the one (albeit meager) upside of my past is that I can now use this product.
:-p
Rating: - Well worth it!
Please don't be daunted by having to learn to use the cup. I was able to do it successfully the very first time. However, even if it takes a few cycles, it is well worth the commitment. Not only is it so much healthier and unbelievably effective and convenient, it is so much better for the environment as well. It would be a shame to forgo all of these benefits for fear that you could not learn to insert and take it out properly. The Diva website is incredibly helpful- it has a very comprehensive FAQ page as well as great customer service/support. I highly recommend the Diva Cup.
Rating: - big learning curve!
This thing works WONDERFULLY when "correctly" inserted. If it leaks, you don't have it inserted properly. It is difficult to know when it IS inserted correctly, though. It is very difficult to insert, fairly easy to remove.
I also recommend ordering a larger size based upon whether or not one has ever given birth. If you've never given birth, I recommend going with the smaller size, regardless of your age.
I've read many reviews from women in their 30's and older who ordered the larger size and it was too big and uncomfortable. I'm 43 and the smaller size fits great.
