Rating:  - The Chi is wonderful
I have shoulder length wavy hair- and have always longed for straight hair. The people who cut my hair have used a Chi and I always loved how it looked, but attributed some of that to the professional expertise of the hairstylists. I decided to treat myself and buy the Chi and really learn how to get my hair the way that I like it ( smooth and straight)
I love this Chi. It's great- it is completely different from all the cheapie straighteners out there. It straightens, makes it soft and smooth.
I use a spray on my hair ( Matrix Gold in a black bottle- smells great) and then I get to work on my hair. People compliment my hair- and i just really like how it looks. I feel like I have had a blow-out every day of the week.
For people who are concerned about the price, add up all the things that you have bought to straighten your hair ( creams, gels, cheapie straightners) and then just go and buy the Chi- it will be the best money you have spent on your hair.
Also if you have a little extra- go ahead and get the Chi hairdryer. I used to think a hair dryer was a hair dryer, but no more. I have the Chi 1300- and absolutely love it.

The iron was goofy from the beginning. Sometimes, it would turn on, sometimes now. Now, after three months, it no longer turns on and Amazon's return window is 30 days. For a high-end price, this is very disappointnig.
Rating: - Chi flat iron
I LOVE the 1" Chi flat iron! It is so easy to use leaving my curly hair smooth and shiny. (Using Sexy's Smooth an Seal helps this as well.) The cord is long, flexible, and stores easily. The only problem is that the iron falls over easily. To keep from possibly burning my counter, I bought a simple heat mat so that I can lay the unit on its side. Problem solved.

It should be stated clearly that the CHI warranty does NOT cover appliances purchased through the internet or any other outlet. (Only thru a Professional Salon)
I purchased this at the end of June received in July and in mid-September it just stopped working. It's past the 30 return window for a return to Amazon & Farouk will not replace due to the voided warranty. This is only a good price if the item works for an expected period of time.
I'll continue to purchase from Amazon - but will never purchase another Farouk product from any outlet.

I have thick, dry, blond hair that is neither wavy nor straight. It doesn't look good unless it is curled or straightend, but before I purchased the CHI iron I rarely did this because it took so long. I was using an iron purchased from a drug store which probably would have been fine for someone with thinner hair, but it was taking me 45 mins. minimum to straighten my hair with it and the results only lasted one day. With the CHI I can really straighten my hair in about 20 mins. and with usually only 1 or 2 passes through the hair which I think means less damage. Since my hair is very dry I only wash it about 2x a week, and my hair stays straight and sleek from the time I iron it until I wash it again. I would highly recommend this iron.
