Seems like some don't like Nemerov on religious grounds.
If my LACK of religious beliefs dictated my appreciation of poetry I would be limited. I mean I wouldn't even be able to enjoy the song "Every Grain of Sand" by Bob Dylan or any of Dylan's other songs during his "born again" period. Not only that but I would be threatened by every Bible passage that makes it into poetry anthologies. Psalm 23 in particular. But thankfully I can see beyond my own views to appreciate anothers perspective and the way it is presented.
Nemerov is a thoughtful, tactful, modern master who touches on many subjects, not just the subject of a higher power. To disregard him because of this is ridiculous. Of course one could just turn the other cheek, no?

Nature fills my days with wonder and beauty. Cedar trees, firs; squirrels scampering, song birds singing so sweetly that I can only close my eyes and imagine the extent of music's influence and healing. Nature speaks in glorious ways and dispenses wisdom beyond this world's knowledge.
So, I cannot imagine someone blinded to the degree that they fully believe nature possesses "no divine signature."
Nature bearing G-d's message has gone out to all the earth and their words to the far bounds of the world!
To appreciate nature and divorce it from its Creator is like denying a baby's mother any part in its birth.
Nemerov writes beautifully, yet Wisdom calls for eyes of the heart not just vision of the material world.
I was so disappointed by this book of poems.
