Rating: - RULE 500 Bilge Pump, an old standby
I've been a striper guide and focus primarily on live bait. My bait tanks have been running for weeks at a time on many occasions. These pumps will last up to 2 years under HEAVY HEAVY use which is amazing. Amazon has the best deal on the web that I have found. Always keep a spare on the boat! seeinstripes.com
Rating: - Bilge pump for fountains
We use this pump as a safe feature for several water fountains in our patio and gardens. Running 12 vdc to these is much safer than using typical 110 vac fountain pumps. And they last about a year running 10 hours a day, sometimes running dry. By hooking them up to a variable-voltage power supply from Radio Shack, we can vary the flow to get exactly what we want. the pump was not what i expected. i thought the electric connection would be an easy plug-in for a 12-v source (cigarette lighter type). It's just 2 open wires. now i have to figure some way to get a plug hooked up.
the picture on-line did not show the electric connection, so i guess you get what you see.
Rating: - Great for solar
This little pump works great for solar. I happen to have a spare 64 watt panel to run it but I think 20w would be about right. I have a 10 w panel that doesn't have enough oomph for it.
Rating: - solar fountain
i have used this brand and model pump for several years. i use it as a battery operated, solar fountain. my system works great except the pump needs to be replaced every year. admittedly i run this thing constantly except duing long periods of low solar gain. i currently view it as a disposable pump which irritates me but i don't have many other affordable choices.
next time i might step up to a cartrage replaceable pump but why cant they make a pump that lasts?
