San Marzano tomatoes are not available locally and I was anxious to try them. The flavor is wonderful and I will buy more.
Rating: - An edible San Marzano
I have purchased a variety of DOP tomatoes in the past. Typically I been disappointed. I usually find that California products taste markedly better. The DOP tomatoes I have tried previously turned out to be mealy, and tinny tasting.
These tomatoes on the other hand, had a bright taste and a balance of sweetness and acidity that made a very good marinara. I have not used up this shipment so I don't know if every can is as good as this lot, but if so, these Strianese tomatoes, some garlic, ... Read More
Rating: - Great tomatoes, but many cans were dented
Although the tomatoes were delicious, I might hesitate to order again, since it appeared that the cans were either dented en route, or were taken off the shelf that way. They were also sort of dirty and old looking, so I have a feeling these are items which maybe don't move often enough, and I may have gotten the last of what was on the shelf, dented or not. Otherwise shipping was prompt. Could have been packed better.
