Italbrand San Marzano Tomatoes D.O.P. 28 oz. can. Certified D.O.P. San Marzano Tomatoes. These are true San Marzano tomatoes from Italy. Cooked and peeled packed in their own juice with basil leafs. Nice bright red delicious tomatoes. Just perfect for your sauce.This product is imported direct from Italy, and shipped via container ship. Some cans may also show signs of rusting on the edges of the top and bottom lids. Some customers have expressed concern about these issues. This also concerns Taylor's Market as well. We gurantee our products to your satisfaction. We inspect all cans prior to shipment for any major defects. This includes excessive denting which may cause a loss of vacuum or structural integrity of the can. We also check for rusting along the seams of the cans. Good tomatoes but the shipping costs make them too expensive I found San Marzano in the local Shop Rite Supermarket at half the price

San Marzano Tomatoes have a a very interesting flavor. Real, Italian San Marzanos are grown in an area near Sorrento in southern central Italy where the ground has a lot of volcanic ash which imparts a special flavor.
We have tried numerous brands of San Marzano tomatoes and found this one to be the best flavor. We use it in preparation of a tomaoto sauce base from Mario Batali's recipes. We also use it with garlic and fresh basil and fresh mozzarella to make an incredible pasta ... Read More

A couple of cooking forums I belong to highly recommend these tomatoes. Since I couldn't find them locally (no surprise), I ordered them here. After S&H, they were pretty expensive, so we did a 'blind taste test' between these & Progresso brand. Progresso won! The San Marzano were good, but not worth the price IMHO.
Rating: - Perfect for tomato sauce....
I've tried dozens of different tomato brands and this one is my favorite. They are not overly acidic like some brands can be, the tomatoes taste fresh and it makes a nice evenly balanced sauce. San Marzano tomatoes are known to be the best - but this company really managed to capture that flavor in a can! BRAVO!!

the tomatoes are superior to anything you will find in the supermarket. I would recommend them to anyone who appreciates good tomato sauce.
