Soft, but durable. I think it's better than Bath & Body Works sponges. It's definitely cheaper! And, since it comes in a 12-pack, it sure beats having to buy a new one all the time. The only minor complaint is the hand strap. A small rope would've been better. The strap is made of the same material as the sponge, but stretches. There aren't as many places for it to hang when not in use.
