Rating: - Prilosec can do the job better
I use Prilosec to control chronic excess acid production and the resulting discomfort. I experimented briefly with a more potent prescription medicine that became available at about the time that P. became available over the counter. Not only am I back on Prilosec but I have had good success with gradually reducing the dosage from one tablet per day to now less than 1/2 - with the goal of getting "off" this medicine entirely. Rating: - Not just for acid reflux
I'm prone to ulcers and other GI problems, so I'm under doctor's orders to take this daily (not just for the 14 day dosage). Believe me, when i skip more than a day, I notice it! This stuff works better than any prescription I've been on! No wonder my local drug stores can't keep it stocked!

After losing my prescription benefits when I changed jobs due to pre-existing condition rules, I could not afford to purchase Protonix, a very effective acid reflux reducer. Not being able to imagine more days of painful regurgitation, I ran to the store to see what they had to offer. I tried a few over the counters, had a few bad acid days and finally tried Prilosec OTC. It relieved my symptoms as well as Protonix.
