I am a postal carrier and purchased the dazer as a first line of defense against dogs. I easily see over 100 dogs a day and when a dog barks at me, I hit the dazer.
I have nearly worn out the battery testing this little device. I cover many routes and have tested this device over 1000 times (easily). It has worked tail-tucking-excellent on only 4 dogs. It will stop about 50% of all dogs from barking for a few seconds. And about 30% of dogs from barking as long as I hold the button.

I purchased this item to silence my neighbor's dog after reading several reviews that the product was effective. The Dazer does seem to affect the dogs, as they move their ears/heads when the button is pressed. However, it does not cause them to stop barking. Additionally, the product stopped working after about 2-3 days, even after changing the battery. I do not recommend this product and I'm a little angry that it cost me $27.

I tried this on the large dogs on either side of us that bark nonstop. They do seem to hear it and are mildy curious. They just associate the sound with me now and it has not stopped the barking. I tested it on our cat and she seemed annoyed and tried to get away from it. Tested it quickly on a beagle and our new puppy. I was skeptical when purchasing this item even though it had good feedback. I live in a small apartment with a house in close proximity. The nearest part of the deck on the house is approx. 10 feet from my apartment. You guessed it!! A huge dog spends a lot of time on the deck (right outside my apartment) barking and barking and barking.

I tried the Dog Dazer II in the presence of a half dozen dogs including my own and it had very little effect on any of their behaviors. What prompted my purchase of this product was my neighbor's barking dog...if anything it only made him bark more.
