Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: The words 'subtle' and 'Ashton Kutcher' rarely appear in the same sentence, but here goes: A Lot Like Love, a romantic comedy starring Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet, is surprisingly and pleasantly subtle. The story starts when Emily (Peet, Igby Goes Down) and Oliver (Kutcher, Dude, Where's My Car?) meet on a flight to New York and have a tryst in the airplane bathroom. After a day's dalliance, they part and don't meet again for four years--when they meet, spend a day together, part, and don't meet again until...you begin to get the idea. The script could have been dangerously cute, but director Nigel Cole (who helmed the delightful Calendar Girls) carefully steers Peet and Kutcher, two actors not generally noted for their grasp of character nuance, towards fairly three-dimensional portrayals of two floundering twentysomethings who can't seem to find the right moment. There are a few rom-com cliches--at one point, Oliver serenades Emily in front of an audience of her neighbors--but most of the movie is low-key, engaging, and smacks of actual human experience. Also featuring Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) and Kathryn Hahn (Anchorman). --Bret Fetzer

Rating: - Worth 5 stars because of Ashton's performance
What a wonderful performance. I was very pleasantly surprised to see Ashton's portrayal of a good brother and son, a bickering brother, a shy man, a gentle, kind and honest man. This was a fearless performance by Ashton. He did not hold back.
Although I think that Amanda did a nice job, her psychologically abusive, everything-must-be-MY-WAY character was not very likeable for the majority of the film.
Rating: - Better than expected
Though long for a romantic comedy, at close to two hours, this is well done. Ashton's acting is pretty good, even if his mug is angelic. Amanda Peet has the better role and handles it well. They are always getting together at the wrong time, is the movie's central conceit. By the end, you know what's going to happen. Actually, you know that at the beginning. But the script is so intelligent that you don't mind the obviousness.
Rating: - AMAZING
I was very impressed with the reality of this movie, it's something I could relate to at every turn. As some have already mentioned, love isn't smooth, it isn't easy, and this is an excellent example of just that kind of circumstance!
I would certainly suggest this to anyone with a sense of humor, and a true sense of what romance is suppose to be. :)
Rating: - Surprisingly a good film.
I must say I have never been a big fan of Ashton Kutcher however Amanda Pete is a different story she was in a Tv show called Jack & Jill which I really enjoyed so I took a chance and boy I was glad I did. This movie far exceed my expectations towards Ashton since most of his films has been more like overboard comedy which i never cared for. This film has a good amount of both comedy and romance and they balance very well.
