I've owned 4-5 Brauns since since I began growing hair. And can say the Contour 5885 is horrible. First Braun FAIL. The foil shaver doesn't shave close. After 30-40 attempts of going over the same area and facial burn....long hairs..will still be located in random places. If you do the 30-40 attempts over your lip, you get the same razor burn, can still feel the hair, and it looks like you still have 1/10 mustache..or forgot to shave. Sad to say , I used the shaver for two weeks. After each shave I had to use my Norelco 5825XL to get a good shave . I'm sorry I bought it . NO STAR .

Wow! This shaver is what my other one should have been. I have a similar, older model with a black casing as well as a few other Braun and Panasonic shavers over the years (some promptly returned they were so bad). Other past Braun shavers seem to have been designed by marketing with all sorts of gimmicky features like stupid dishwashers that don't clean and pop-up shavers that work only intermittently and sketchy battery life. I have two of these shavers. They work well and are good for simple clean-ups and my teenage boys use them. They are easy to use and hold their charge. They do not shave as close as a razor blade but are much easier to use.

reviewing an electronic shaver just after getting it is really inappropriate. you have to use it for some months to see how good or bad it really is. when it's brand new, of course it's at the top of its game.everything works.so with this braun. guess what? it shaves your face and trims your moustache or vandyke,and sideburns, if you have them. the blades are all new and sharp so they work great. it charged right up and is still going strong.
