Product Description: Includes Soleus Air MS-11 Oscillating Reflective Heater
Amazon.com Review: Freestanding heaters come in several different varieties; hot-air blowers, natural gas burners, and circulated-oil warmers. Then there are reflective heaters, which use electricity to warm a metal screen that then reflects heat out into the room. The Soleus Air MS-11 reflective heater has a few advantages over other types of heaters; it doesn't burn up oxygen like a natural gas heater, and it doesn't stir up dust as would the blower variety. And it's practically silent, without the ticking and pinging common in some of the other heater types.
The MS-11 reflective heater is made of sturdy, heat-resistant black plastic and has a protective steel grill over the reflective honeycomb of metal mesh that radiates the heat. When mounted on its stand, it's two feet tall and its flat-panel design is only about 6-1/2 inches deep, so it can be placed fairly close to walls, though care must be taken near drapes and other potentially flammable fabrics. (The heater will need to be a little farther from the wall to have room to oscillate.) The simple controls consist of four buttons on the top of the heater: Off, High (800 watts), Low (400 watts), and Swing (oscillate). There's a tip-over safety switch on the underside of the heater, as well as an automatic shut-off mechanism in case of overheating.
Always unplug heater before cleaning; use a soft cloth, dry or only slightly moistened, and towel or allow to air dry afterward. Do not allow water to drip on or enter fan housing. Place heater 3 feet from flammable fabrics such as curtains or upholstery. Keep heater away from combustible substances such as paint thinner, etc., and do not cover it while it is in use. The 120-volt Soleus Air MS-11 reflective heater measures 13 by 6-1/2 by 24 inches when fully assembled. Detailed assembly, care, and caution instructions are included. Soleus Air offers a 1-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use conditions. --Garland Withers

Rating: - Reflective heater thoughts
I had read the reviews on the smaller version....WARNING of the BRIGHT glowing light...low is bad...HIGH is LIKE having the SUN in your room..and I agree with the review I saw that the person was worried the neighbors may think that the house looks like it is on fire...especially in oscillating mode! I luckily am one of those people who can sleep with the blinds open on a sunny day...be forewarned though...this may be better for daylight useage for a tremendous heat source. I love the radiant heat. ... Read More
Rating: - GREAT HEATER FOR RIGHT USE
This heater is fantastic for keeping my office desk area warm. At only 800 watts max (the 400 setting is usually fine) it gets rid of the chill but does not get anger the building management because.
a. It does not blow breakers.
b. It does not get dangerously hot. Even at 800 watts the grill is touchable - but not comfortable.
I have seen no sign of the "overtemp" problem others have mentioned. Yes, I have operated it at the 800 watt setting for several hours, no problems. ... Read More
Rating: - Best Space Heater I've Ever Had
The other reviews worried me before I bought this heater, but I'm very happy with it especially for the price I paid ($19). It's very quiet unlike fan heaters. It doesn't get too hot even if I put it close to me (most other heaters do and I have to turn them on and off constantly) and yet the room gets quite warm. The automatic shut-off doesn't kick in even though I leave it high for hours. This is the best space heater I've ever had!
Rating: - defective engineering
This item was designed improperly. The high setting allows the heater to operate for no more than 10 minutes before the built-in "overheat" safty device shuts down the heater; after which, you would then have to manually reset it by unplugging and replugging it into the wall outlet. I am not sure exactly where the engineers placed the safety cut-off device but maybe they have it installed too close to the quartz tube behind the reflective metal sheet. How can the heater warm up the room if it keeps cutting ... Read More
Rating: - Should be called a Night Lamp instead
I did extensive research and was led to believe reflective heater is just as good as traditional heater, only more energy efficient. Boy, was I wrong. Is it the reflective heating technology or this particular product? I'm not sure. Here's my verdict:
Pros: very quiet, sleek design, only 800 watts, instant heat
Cons:
- at 'low' setting, it's as bright as a night light, but at 'high' setting, it's as bright as a 30 watt bulb
- to feel the heat, I must stay within 2 ft (not exaggerating). ... Read More
