Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: With generous amounts of good luck and good timing, 50 First Dates set an all-time box-office record for the opening weekend of a romantic comedy; whether it deserved such a bonanza is another issue altogether. It's a sweet-natured vehicle for sweet-natured stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, and their track record with The Wedding Singer no doubt factors in its lowbrow appeal. But while the well-matched lovebirds wrestle with a gimmicky plot (she has no short-term memory, so he has to treat every encounter as their first), director Peter Segal (who directed Sandler in Anger Management) ignores the intriguing potential of their predicament (think Memento meets Groundhog Day) and peppers the proceedings with the kind of juvenile humor that Sandler fans have come to expect. The movie sneaks in a few heartfelt moments amidst its inviting Hawaiian locations, and that trained walrus is charmingly impressive, but you can't quite shake the feeling that too many good opportunities were squandered in favor of easy laughs. Like Barrymore's character, you might find yourself forgetting this movie shortly after you've seen it. --Jeff Shannon

Rating: - Surprisingly good
From the advertising I thought this movie was a lot of screaming and silliness, but it's really an enjoyable, romantic movie even for people who think they don't like Adam Sandler.
Rating: - Better than I expected
I picked this movie up at the suggestion of my friends, not expecting to enjoy it. Boy was I surprised! It's a sweet movie; the story of Lucy's accident and recovery touched my heart. Add a few(okay, a lot of) one-liners and great music, and you've got one good movie. Just don't watch it with the youngsters, the movie has a fair amount of sexual content.
Rating: - wickedly funny
this movie was made for adam sandler. this movie is hilarious, can you imagine yourself in his shoes. but adam makes it funnier. this movie is worth a watch

"50 First Dates" has an interesting premise--when a man loves a woman, what's he to do when she has short-term memory loss? It's sort of the distaff equivalent to "Groundhog Day",albeit without Sonny&Cher,as well as Bill Murray's comic genius.
In "50 First Dates",Adam Sandler is Henry, who works at an aquarium. He has a she-man assistant Alexa. He frolics among the penguins, walruses, and dolphins. Then he meets Lucy (Drew Barrymore) For the first time,he's into commitment. Unfortunately, ... Read More
