Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Call it The Full Monty on ice. With tongue firmly in cheek, director-writer-star Paul Gross applies the old underdog sports-team formula to that great Northern obsession: curling. (You thought hockey was the national obsession? So did Canada.) You know the score: estranged teammates reunite to fulfill a dead man's last request, win glory for their fictional hometown, and earn back their hibernating self-respect. Square-jawed Gross recalls his Due South days as the amiable team captain, a boy scout with an impish streak. Leslie Nielsen turns down the usual goofball shtick to play Gross's crotchety, self-medicating father. There are enough issues here to fuel a dozen movies and none of them packs the punch of a pint of Molson's beer, which is just the right tone for this off-center sports spoof, a story of little victories, big stones, and beavers on the move. --Sean Axmaker

Rating: - Curling rules!
If you're looking for a fun movie, this is the one for you - Leslie Nielsen is hysterical along with the rest of the boys in this faboo Canadian movie!
the only caveat I would give is that it's not for the little ones - there's a slew of sexual references and situations that might make it a bit risque for kids - but the curling shots are great!
Rating: - "It's not the size of the army, it's the fury of its onslaught."
Let me tell you, nothing gets me up like the sport of curling. I go nuts with the foam finger and the thunder stick whenever I tune in to a curling match. Just watching the 42-pound granite stone wending its way down the ice sheet, its course being affected by brooms, in an effort to get into the house and as close as it can to the button, well, it's just something that's fraught with intensity and poetry.
Okay, so I don't know what I'm talking about. Before this film, I knew nothing ... Read More
Rating: - CURLING?
Hard to believe you could make a fun, interesting, highly enjoyable and watchable movie about the sport of curling, but the very talented Paul Gross has done just that with MEN WITH BROOMS. A lot of good things come out of Canada besides maple syrup and Gross is right up there with the very best - can the man do anything wrong? DUE SOUTH was excellent and SLINGS AND ARROWS one the best shows I have ever seen on TV from just about anywhere! BROOMS isn't quite up to that standard but with an excellent ... Read More
Rating: - what a strange sport
Mostly interesting for the novelty of curling, which I knew nothing about before watching this movie. It had some funny parts, but I only got it because I have a crush on Paul Gross, and Slings and Arrows is a lot funnier. Not a bad movie, not a great movie.
Rating: - The best cross between British and American humor
As far as I'm concerned, Paul Gross can do no wrong, I've loved him ever since Tales of the City...And he doesn't disappoint here. I knew nothing of curling, but it didn't matter, this movie cracked me up. Between the beavers and the announcers and the music, it is one fun ride. The extras at the end are great as well. What is even more fun is trying to figure out what movies you know the other actors from. Thank you IMDB. Just a good time, eh? Erin Marra
