Editorial Review:
Description: What starts as an intimate gathering of college students at a secluded mansion soon becomes a frenzy of parties and debauchery when additional friends arrive with their own formulas for fun. In the meantime, a terrorist group known as 'The Conceptualists' infiltrates the area, committing random acts of murder and violence. Oblivious to the danger now among them, the students continue their partying until all hell breaks loose and the body count rises. In the fuzzy daylight of hangovers, friends turn into enemies as no one know who to trust.

Rating: - If you've read the book, DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM
I am so upset by how bad an adaptation this is that I am lost for words that could be displayed here. I shall proceed profanity free any how.
Everything good about the novel is lost in this movie, the soundtrack is gut-wrenchingly awful (the irony being that at the end of the version I watched, thay actually advertised in the credits where you could download it), the majority of the characters are completely hollow (I do not beleive for one second they even read the original), and to top it ... Rating: - Nihilist Epic
This picture is a quintessential nihilist picture. If you share the value system that life has no meaning or value, you may find some comfort in the Conceptualists from this film. William Marsh who plays the drug-dealing Marvel in the film also directed and wrote the screenplay. I have no idea what the feud entailed between Marsh and producer Holmes' final cut of the film, but I doubt it could essentially be less dreadful. Paul Bettany has shown himself to have a great range from "Wimbledon" to ... Read More
Rating: - Watch Out for First Look Home Entertainment Version
This is the version I got stuck with. Completely linear. No chapters, no menus, no special features, but a decent transfer of FULL FRAME Version. Hit the menu button or chapter advance and you start the whole movie over. May as well be VHS. Buyers beware! Ask your sellers which version your getting. Too bad because this is a fun film.
Rating: - Technical minor point
Good film but the version Amazon.ca is selling is not widescreen. It starts off in the widescreen format but that lasts about a minute during the opening credits and for the rest of the film, except for the end credits, it's in the full frame/standard format.
Rating: - Dark, Brave & Funny
Be prepared, this is not a comfortable movie to sit through. No easy options, no pandering to 'cool' drug images and no safe resolutions. This is an incredibly faithful adaptation of Amis's blistering novel. The movie pulls no punches and has an effect that very few movies manage to achieve, this is an EXPERIENCE. Marsh's debut is incredibly assured and gives me high hopes for his next project, beautifully lit and shot it defies it low budget roots. If only more British movies were made like this. I ...
