Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Another of those cut-and-paste comedies from Adam Sandler's production company starring one of Sandler's erstwhile Saturday Night Live colleagues, The Adventures of Joe Dirt finds the magnificently caustic David Spade emasculated by a sentimental script and shapeless, haphazard cutting. Spade plays the title character, a white-trash orphan in search of the parents who abandoned him at the Grand Canyon. The humor is supposed to come from Joe's misadventures, his redneck gullibility, and his encounters with such figures as a serial killer, a wacked-out janitor (Christopher Walken), and a lovable gal (Jamie Pressly) who may, unfortunately, turn out to be his sister. But the squishier requirements of the story, requiring the audience to feel deeply for the pain of Spade's caricature, are an irritant and force Spade to veer from the nastier stuff he does so well. With Kid Rock, Dennis Miller. --Tom Keogh

Rating: - Good Movie. Critics are Jackasses.
This movie was very good, and how the critics picked on it disturbs me. Its pretty funny and the acting by David Spade its pretty good. It was one of those movies that are under appreciated , and its really cheap so its definitely worth the money.
Rating: - review of Joe Dirt
Two stars is pushing it for Joe Dirt. I found it insipid and stupid.
Rating: - David Spade + Mullet = Funny
Joe Dirt is the gut-bustingly funny tale of a character by the same name, payed by David Spade. He's a complete loser working as a janitor when he gets spotted and highlighted by a radio host (Dennis Miller) named Xander Kelly. The show gives us the privilege of hearing about Joe's life, and the hilarity ensues.
First and foremost, Joe is pathetic looking. He has a surgically attached mullet, porkchop sideburns, and facial hair that looks like the results of bad inbreeding. What's ... Read More
Rating: - Silly, but with heart
I liked this movie ... and I'm an old guy who should supposedly know better. I know the 'critics' bombed it, with some reviews almost sounding like they didn't watch it. Of course, 'critics' liked 'Everybody Loves Raymond.' I'm glad to see Amazon customers have some heart. Joe liked animals and was a good guy ... and the movie makers didn't sell him out for cheap laughs (well, you know, CRUEL cheap laughs).
Rating: - I KNOW "THEY" SAY I SHOULDN'T LIKE THIS MOVIE, BUT....I DO!!!
Silly, stupid...ridiculous! Yes, you could say all of these things about "Joe Dirt"! You could also say it's funny, hilarious and damn good entertainment! This movie will grow on you with repeat viewings. A good cast and a story with some heart make this one tough to dislike. The DVD transfer and extras are very good.
