Amazon.com: Caillou (pronounced KY-yoo) is a PBS animated series about a 4-year-old boy who's facing the challenges of growing up while gleaning an understanding of the world around him. The series features simple, colorful animation interspersed with puppetry, songs, and real children. A narrator describes Caillou's thoughts and feelings, helping kids and parents understand the motivations behind Caillou's actions. What makes the series so effective is that Caillou's actions and feelings are incredibly realistic and universal--Caillou is reality TV for young children. Caillou the Explorer contains two episodes. In the first episode, Caillou and his grandfather spend a day refurbishing an old toy boat; Gilbert, Teddy, and Rexi (puppets) explore various modes of transportation; and Caillou takes his first train trip. In the second episode, Caillou spends a day on a working farm, the puppets create some special culinary treats to share with each other, and Caillou gets his first taste of Chinese cuisine at a friend's house. These new situations inspire jealousy, awe, fear, embarrassment, and pride within Caillou. Most importantly, each experience helps Caillou grow as a person and furthers his understanding of the world. (Ages 2 to 6) --Tami Horiuchi

Rating: - REALITY!!!!!
Caillou is a little boy inspired by the events that he is exposed to throughout each day. He is curious and willing to learn and try what life may present to him. He explores....which teaches science....and what parent doesn't want their child to explore? Caillou is an above average boy with a great spirit for learning! Yes, he does have temper tantrums from time to time; he fusses and whines from time to time as well. Do you know of any four year old children that NEVER do any of these things? ... Read More
Rating: - Caillou is realistic
I love the Caillou series in general. Caillou acts just like a four year old boy. I don't find him whiney, as other reviewers have said. What I do like is that the parents are portrayed as very patient. Sometimes Caillou does misbehave, but really, what parent can say that their four year old son is an angel all the time? The parents always deal with him fairly and patiently.
My two year old son loves it, but sometimes I feel it might be just a bit too complicated for him, but he does ... Read More
Rating: - Annoying, Self-Centered, Bald Pain in the Neck
If this is what you want for your kids, knock yourself out. If they don't whine and complain incessantly now they sure will after a few viewings. Caillou(even his name is irritating) also consistently defies the wishes of his parents and is very disobedient. Great message for young children.
Rating: - Mixed Emotions
This series could be so much better than it is - I have to say Caillou is pretty whiney. Also - why does he have no hair? He looks like one of those poor kids w/cancer. Also - lastly, what kind of name is Caillou?? Anyway, my little three-year old loves Caillou but i wish they would make him less WHINEY. I love that everything (including the kitchen sink) is in primary colors.
Rating: - He's a brat
I have let my daughter watch this, but I always say things to her like "I'm glad you don't act like that". He is the biggest brat on tv, whiney and short-tempered.
