Description:
* Not sure what to expect?
* Unable to attend a childbirth class?
* Need a refresher course?
* Confined to bedrest?

'Labor of Love Childbirth Class' is the ONLY Complete Lamaze Class reflecting obstetrical care in the 21st Century!

Newly updated and digitized in 2002,'Labor of Love' is a unique experience in childbirth education that prepares you for labor and delivery according to obstetrical procedures used today!

'Labor of Love' provides a workbook and over '4 hours' of detailed instruction that takes you from the unknowns of childbirth into practical applications that will work for you! There are other videos on the market today that cover the topic of childbirth in a shorter amount of time but do not provide the level of detail or updated information that is relevant in the delivery of obstetrical care today.

The success of this video series is evident in that it has been widely accepted by both private and military hospitals and the national support group for bedrest mom's 'Sidelines' as the 'GOLD STANDARD' for mothers unable to attend hospital based classes. Childbirth Educators, Women's Health Centers, Homes For Unwed Mothers and Physicians recommend this video to their bedrest mom's. Nationwide, many libraries have added this video series to their childbirth resource section.

Topics include: Third Trimester Experiences, Physiology of Labor & Delivery, Stages & Phases of Labor, Medical Interventions, Comfort Techniques, Medication-Epidural, Breathing Techniques, C-Section & VBAC, Postpartum Mom

Amazon.com:
Childbirth educator Sherry Turney is a cheerful and knowledgeable guide to the complex--and sometimes intimidating--world of labor and birth. In this four-hour tape, she teaches her two-day course to an actual class, covering signs and stages of labor, exercise and breathing during labor, and hospital procedures for vaginal and cesarean deliveries. She uses a variety of helpful props--including charts, fetal and pelvic models, and often, herself--to demonstrate the various aspects of childbirth. As a doula who has assisted many births, Turney peppers her lessons with plenty of anecdotes that enlighten and prepare viewers to expect the unexpected. When it comes to the often controversial subject of medication, she handles it with neutrality, giving the pros and cons, which is not always the case in actual classes. Finally, Turney conscientiously includes advice for useful participation by coaches throughout the course. This two-tape set comes with an informational pamphlet and is useful both as an at-home reference for those already taking a class and as a refresher course for second-time parents. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Informative without scare techniques!!
This video was AWESOME!! Sherry Turney the instructor is so down to earth and real that you feel like you know her! I learned so much and I feel like she presented all of the material in a way that was really open and not intimidating or scary. I HIGHLY recommend this video. I wish Sherry lived close to me because I would love her to help my husband and I on our big day. This video is a must see for first time moms!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - After seeing all that's out there:
Due to timing problems I was unable to attend regular childbirth classes. I bought and watched every Childbirth class I could find. Labor of love, although not the most popular, was the most informative. This was esspecially true for my coach! The massage techniques were wonderful (Add some cocoa butter and make the touches -firm-) I would have never gotten through without them. Unlike alot of the films out their, Sherry (I admit she -does- have an annoying voice) gets down on the floor and shows ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Buyer beware of whom?
Hello All,
Very seldom do I take the time to respond to arrogant people with no knowledge of childbirth. As the manufacture of the video I thought it was important to let you know that some people write comments when they have actually never seen the video, are competitors or in the case of John Maloney and his east coast friend, were caught and sued for pirating our video on ebay. Hateful people. Please remember when reading buyers beware comments,why certain people write things. We have been ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Worth renting
I'm not sure I'd spend $50 retail on this video, but it was worth renting from my local library to get a good overview of labor and delivery. On the downside, the video/sound quality is somewhat poor (as many other reviewers have noted). Also, I wouldn't let this video be your sole authority on what labor and delivery are like. A few times, the instructor said something that didn't sound quite right to me, in comparison with reading I've done. For instance, she advises husbands to massage their ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Disappointment!
After examining all the information currently available on Lamaze, this video is very outdated and inaccurate! They were correct about some of the procedures, but please do your research prior to deciding to spend money here.
