A priest and scholar in 15th-century Bohemia in central Europe, John Hus lived 100 years before Martin Luther. His relentless pursuit of God’s truth planted the seeds for the Reformation. A beloved pastor, Hus was nevertheless condemned as a heretic at the Council of Constance for his uncompromising belief in the final authority of the Bible, even though he had been guaranteed safety from the emperor. Despite relentless pressure, he refused to recant and was burned at the stake in 1415. He died singing. Viewers typically are moved to consider what they really believe and how important it is to them! A dramatic film awarded 'Best Film of the Year' by the Christian Film Distributors Association.

I show this remarkable video of the life of Hus to all my Bible classes that I can. They are touched by this man of God and his similarities to Luther.
Many of Luther's opponents called him a "Hussite." He said that he was so proud to be mentioned in the same breadth with this great Christian, who long before Luther challenged Rome's unbiblical teaching on salvation and repressed the Scriptures from being in the people's language.
