Description:
Meet the biggest hermit crab of all - Leslie Nielsen! It's just another day at the beach for Leslie Nielsen. In coat and tie, bathing suit and rubber boots, he's a human hermit crab, too afraid to go in the water and for good reason...the ocean is full of sea nasties! To prove his point, he recruits a mermaid to reveal all the dangerous creatures that slither, scuttle and hide on the ocean floor. You'll snorkel up to poisonous catfish, sea snakes, urchins, jellyfish, and more. And visit Sting Ray City where humans swim with the sting rays. By the end of this deep sea journey, even Leslie is ready to dive in!

Amazon.com:
This video should be subtitled 'Things That Can Kill You,' since host Leslie Nielsen spends much of his time 'dispel[ling] the myth that the ocean is a nice place to visit.' Nielsen's famed goofy persona works well in making this half-hour tape a funny but informative look at the dangerous creatures beneath the surface of the sea. Assisted by stock footage and a 'mermaid'--actually a female scuba diver and animal wrangler--Nielsen sits on a beach in the Cayman Islands and warns viewers of everything from mildly poisonous coral to the box jellyfish, the most venomous of earth's creatures, which, fortunately--except for sea-going Aussies--resides mostly off the northeast coast of Australia. Kids will enjoy the grotesque creatures compiled by the folks at National Geographic, as well as the tape's gleefully gruesome tone. The tape ends on a gentler note, with a visit to 'Sting Ray City,' where young and old alike put on their swimsuits and pet the mysterious rays. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Sea Nasties
This is a wonderful movie. It combines the hilarity of Leslie Neilson with education in an attempt to dispell the myths of the dangers of the ocean. It talkes about many of the oceans dangerous creatures from jellyfish to conesnails. It tells very factually about the creatures, how dangerous they are, and how you can avoid the danger. Neilson keeps the movie light while providing information on the dangers in the sea and just how mythical they are. I am a marine biologist and I found the movie ... Read More
