Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Lawrence Fishburne and Sam Neill head up a strong cast as the reluctant leaders of a rescue mission sent to find out just what in the hell (literally) happened to the crew of a long-vanished experimental spacecraft in this dark and thundering descent of a horror film. Although this extremely stylish haunted spaceship movie may be guilty of ripping off half a dozen better films (including Don't Look Now, Hellraiser, and especially Andrei Tarkovsky's great Solaris), it's difficult to deny the gothic razorblade effectiveness of the end result. Not a 'fun' film by any stretch of the imagination, but a thrillingly ruthless shocker that may leave more susceptible viewers in need of a long shower and a high-voltage night-light. For the full effect, watch it with all the lights off and the volume cranked up to 11. --Andrew Wright

Rating: - Thriller of an event.
Event Horizon is a tightly constructed science fiction movie. It doesn't have all of the star power one would want or all the special effects, but it has a tight almost seamless storyline. The story is what propels this movie - it doesn't lack for thrills or action where it is required. This one is for all fans of great movie science fiction.
Rating: - An overlooked sci-fi thrill-ride!
In the far future, somewhere in space a rescue squad (Lawrence Fishburne, Sam Neil, Joely Richardson, Katleen Quinland, Sean Pertwee, Richard T. Jones, and Jack Noseworthy) investigates a much 7-year old abandoned spacecraft called "Event Horizon", they discover that the spaceship was used to open up a portal to a terrifying hellish dimension that curses the ship that brings an unspeakable horror.

Rating: - Great movie. But why isn't this being released on Blu-Ray??
The title says it all. This is one of the best Sci-Fi/Horror flicks ever. So why then is this version being released instead of Blu-Ray???

Hey Gang,
Here is an update on the Event Horizon Special Edition DVD. It is in a 2.35 aspect ratio. It includes at 5.1 Dolby Digital track as well as a DTS 6.0 track(Yeah!!!) The second disc includes outtakes, an storyboard version with director's commentary of an alternate beginning & ending. The outtakes are very interesting as well as Paul's commentary on what the film should have been. Hope this helps..
Rating: - Metaphysica nonsense
What is the point of wasting all that money in good special effects if the story really sucks?
People in Hollywood have no imagination whatsoever anymore. If a movie has no guts and blood spread all over the screen it is not considered a movie!
What is the point? There are thousands of good scifi stories that are begging for a movie adaptation and all they come up with is this pseudo-metaphysical nonsense. It is unbelievable how "anti-sifci" this piece of garbage is.
