Ever wonder how the letters 'P-U' came to be synonymous with something that stinks? Consider this film, which is 'pretty unbearable.' Made in the early 1980s, before AIDS made competitive sexual conquests seem less than attractive, the film deals with a trio of losers who rent a house on the southern California beach, then hire a young player to teach them how to get girls. Plucked from today's headlines? Pretty unlikely. And think about all the would-be stars in this film--Grant Cramer, Sorrels Pickard, Michael Rapport--who were never heard from again. Rating:  - 80's Flicks That R Classic...
Movie to be taken with a grain of salt. But if movies such as Private Lessons, My Tutor, Porky's, Appeal to you from the Origins of MTV. By all means give it a try or view.
Rating:  - Where's the DVD?
And still another cheesy classic that should be released on DVD. Especially since it is a named favorite of the "Gilmore Girls (WB network soon to be CW). I saw it young and it was brought back to mind when they mentioned it on the show (Luke fell asleep watching it after they made it through "Casablanca"), and I went to work trying to locate it only to find it isn't on DVD yet. What's up?

This movie came at the dawn of 24-hour cable TV, and was regularly shown on Cinemax and the other channels, usually at about 11 or so.
Oh, to be a 17-year-old young male again and see this for the first time! There is enough T&A in this film to more than satisfy any adolescent boy's needs for a good long time.
Lots of girls on roller skates in high-cut jazzercize-style, one-piece leotards, all with come-hither looks at fortunate Scotty and his carrot top geek sidekick.

My four star rating of Hardbodies should include a disclaimer for all those considering purchasing this movie. If you're looking for a deep, meaningful film with stellar acting, fascinating and complex characters, and brilliant writing, then save your money. Whoever wrote the script for this film certainly wasn't striving to make Citizen Kane or The Graduate.
