Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - The sound sucks
I was glad to see the Meters, Earl King, Professor Longhair and Dr. John, but the sound on this production sucks! I assume it's not the band, but all the instruments are out-of-synch with each other and there's no strong groove. On top of that, one gets the feeling that the bored-looking audience is just waiting for Earl King and Professor Longhair to finish so they can hear the Doctor. Earl and the Professor seem to notice and both act pretty nervous. It's not worth $90!



Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A get-down-raunchy good time of New Orleans' music.
Seeing "Dr John" get down and play his heart out would've been enough. But to add a legend like "Proffessor Longhair" and the couldn't-be-any-funkier-band "The Meters", it was just a site to see. Earl King was thrown in the mix to give it a little more traditional blues feel, he was great but nervous at times. Dr John's act was reminiscent of a Parliament show with costumes and toga's and goggles and that party atmosphere. The Meters with their bell bottoms and afro's singin' swampy, gritty ...
