William Peterson's showcase performance as a sympathetic prototype of Dan Quayle proves that, long before CSI, he was capable of complex subtlety and timing. This ensemble piece does well with the "eccentric family" genre, and can be thanked in passing for featuring a human but non-degenerate priest--a rarity in movies for decades now.

An excellent script, graced by first rate performers. This movie is much more than a comedy: it's almost a mirror. It makes you reflect on the pathetic black comedy family life -and human condition- usually is. I only wish it was already available on DVD...

Wonderful, funny movie that I have watched over and over again.
