I'm a huge fan of anything Michael Crawford's in as he would have to be one of the worlds best entertainers and as P.T Barnum you couldn't find a better one! He was a bit naughty in cheating on the lovely Charity Barnum with the soprano Jenny Lind.
I think the best bit was after Charity died he said that he was never going back into the exhibition business and 2 minutes later he's the co-owner of 'the greatest circus in the world'!
If you love the circus, if you love Michael Crawford ... Read More

I enjoyed Barnum. It wore me out just watching it due to all of the running around during the numbers. It's a very high-energy show. Barnum was truly the King of Humbug.

Energetic musical stage play chronicling the life of circus showman, P.T. Barnum, (Michael Crawford, who is quite adept at circus performance.) The big-top atmosphere is magnificant but the musical is bogged down heavily by an insistent plotline detailing Barnum's marital domestic trifle which adds little drama and only a bit of spice. A wonderful movie. Michael Crawford is superb in the role of Phineas Barnum, master of flim flam. It is a movie of a stage production, warts and all. Even the professionals make mistakes! It's amazing that Crawford did all the circus tricks himself - walking the tightrope being quite spectacular.
There are some terrific songs in the show - "One Brick at a Time" - is one of my favourites. The cast gives a real ensemble performance all of whom are excellent.
