Rating: - Bug
I have always loved this movie. I have watched this movie a number of times since the first time I wanted it back in the 80s. I was glad to find out that it was on DVD and had to buy it. I am glad I did.
Rating: - Talk About A Roach Problem!
An earthquake unleashes a species of roach that are almost uncrushable and can start fires. A university professor becomes obsessed with the creatures and as a result begins a slow process of losing his mind. The always enjoyable Bradford Dillman plays the wacky professor(a role that's almost tailor made for the guy). Not much seems to really go on in the film other than scenes of Dillman experimenting with the bugs, the occasional scene of some unfortunate sap having a bug land on their head ... Read More
Rating: - Thermal Ignition in wide screen format - You can't beat it!
William Castle's production of "Bug" is based on the Thomas Page novel "The Hephaestus Plague" and is one of the great sci-fi horror movies form the 70's decade. It begins with an earthquake erupting in California causing some kind of prehistoric insects to emerge from underground. Entomologist Dr. James Parmiter (Bradford Dillman) soon discovers they are not only highly intelligent but are able to ignite fires by means of two strange antenna-like objects from their abdomen. But it turns out that ... Read More

I think it's important to note right at the beginning that one should not confuse the 1975 Jeannot Szwarc film "Bug" with the 2002 indie effort of the same name. Nor should one confuse this flick with the upcoming Ashley Judd/Harry Connick Jr. thriller, which also has the same title as the other two. Unfortunately, since I reviewed the 2002 film, my Word program had a minor meltdown when I tried to save two files with the same name. That's obviously due to the fact that my Word program hasn't watched ... Read More

Bug (Jeannot Szwarc, 1975)
No Rod Serling devotee who was alive in the seventies will ever forget the name of Jeannot Szwarc, the man who directed some of Night Gallery's finest moments ("Class of '99" and "Cool Air" were two of his). Szwarc's been a TV guy forever, rarely doing work on the big screen; when he does, it's often reminiscent of TV movies anyway. Such is the case with Bug, Szwarc's entry into the big-bug subgenre of the seventies disaster flick, probably best remembered these ... Read More
