Editorial Review:
Product Description: As an essential methods and curriculum guide for teachers, Designing Effective Instruction for Secondary Social Studies presents a comprehensive and valuable model for successful classroom teaching. The authors base their model on the organizational structure of instruction, which utilizes a step-by-step system for designing, developing, and presenting courses, units, and lessons. The text is arranged in seven integrated parts that explore selected issues and federal guidelines, offering innovative solutions to practical instructional problems. Vignettes support the development of useful thinking about creative teaching in the social studies classroom, interlocking an instructor's own learning experiences and abilities with the foundation and systematic execution of education. The Appendices continue this process with detailed models and workshops that help teachers acquire and channel the necessary design skills for effective and thorough instruction.

Rating: - Designing Effective Instruction for Secondary Social Studies
While the issue I have is the 1995 edition I found this book fairly useful. While nothing in it "reinvents the wheel" the information is concise and well laid out. It is a good resource for any beginning high school history teacher.
